The Child of an Alcoholic Shares Insights into His Life

The Child of an Alcoholic Shares Insights into His Life

This song is about me growing up with an alcoholic mother and how addiction didn’t only affect her but also her kids and how I kept chasing a mother that left her kids for alcohol.

Verse 1 By Illustrated

89 a baby born to an alcoholic\
a daily storm, cant help but recall it\
broken bottles, to sleeping on the floor\
an empty fridge, to always being poor\
and wishing for more, then just hand me downs\
and the abuse you handed down\
from the hands that would lay us down/
this is for the kids that say God save us now/
because I know what its like to see bills fill up fast
just so your mother could fill up her glass/
just to kill out the past/
the liquor drowns the sounds of our tears even quicker,
the candles in the winter, taught us to be cold and bitter/
alone I witnessed. so alone I left her.
loath in her own addiction/

Chorus Cover of Lana Del Ray By 3Nox

Feet don’t fail me now
Take me to the finish line
Oh my heart it breaks every step that I take
But I’m hoping at the gates,
They’ll tell me that you’re mine.

Verse 2 By Illustrated

No home in this concrete/ its cold when you gotta eat/
I guess she never thought of/ being brought up/ as a product of dead beat
would ever be problem/, but the bottle spun/
When she chose to run/ down a river of substance/
Her kid was delivered by destruction/
considered him corrupted from the government/
bitter from a mother that didn’t love her kid enough to make it home again/
alone again/ in a city grouped in with these other lost souls/
to old to be adopted/ to young to be forgotten/
always stuck with a sense of caution/
like everyday could be the last chance to blossom
Can’t shelter the pain like a homeless/ So he fell to the flames emotionless/
And felt no faith just hopelessness/ So he held to a blade just to cope with this/

Chorus Cover of Lana Del Ray By 3Nox

Feet don’t fail me now
Take me to the finish line
Oh my heart it breaks every step that I take
But I’m hoping at the gates,
They’ll tell me that you’re mine.

Verse 3 By Emcee Moon

Intergenerational trauma
I guess you could say that it’s karma
Haunting the kids
Of the people who bid
On a life that is full of dishonor
This is a cycle that needs to stop
Children remember what they are taught
Whether it was a good lesson or not
Those life lessons are all that they got
These youth are looking for shoes to fit into
A way to survive
A way not to die
In this life that they think they are used to
And if the shoe fits
Then don’t blame the kids
For their chosen method of survival
There is a method to madness yeah
I know how that is yeah
Life can be so unpredictably cold
That their will be this who just can’t cope….

Chorus Cover of Lana Del Ray By 3Nox

Feet don’t fail me now
Take me to the finish line
Oh my heart it breaks every step that I take
But I’m hoping at the gates,
They’ll tell me that you’re mine.
