“Anna” refers to the “Hogar Madre Anna Vitiello Orphanage” in Sumpango Guatemala, where I spent just over a week doing relief work with my fellow classmates from the University of Alberta.
I wrote this song while sitting on my bunk bed in the orphanage after one of the most heart-wrenching days of my life. It was in that moment that it became so unbearably clear to me that I was deeply attached to these kids, and that in a few days I would have to leave them.
“Anna” is a love song to this orphanage. It is about loving someone so deeply and wanting to do everything you are humanly capable of doing to protect and care for them, but realizing that doing so is beyond your ability.
To my little ones at the orphanage, when you’re grown up and if you ever see this, know that I love you with all of who I am and that you have truly saved me in ways I could never express in words.
Para mis hijos pequeños, cuando seas mayor y si tu alguna vez ves esto, sabes que te amo mas de lo que puedo expresar en palabras.
If you would like to donate to this orphanage, please contact me privately and I will give you the details on how to do it. Thanks and I hope you enjoy this video!
