From Musician to Photographer and Beyond

From Musician to Photographer and Beyond

Art: whether in sound, word or visually has always attracted my attention. As a small boy, I loved to draw and paint. Growing up I always had music around me; in my parent´s car or more often on my walkman. As a teenager, I began […]

A World of Wonder by Niels Tichelaar

A World of Wonder by Niels Tichelaar

At the end of our lives, many of us will have one of two regrets: I wish I had spent more time with family and friends; 2. I wish I had done more traveling. Traveling is far more than about taking beautiful pictures in new […]

The Beauty of the Human Form by Ryan Morse

The Beauty of the Human Form by Ryan Morse

Artist Ryan Morse creates art not to inform the community, preach religion or change political views on the world. The artwork he creates serves one sole purpose, to display the beauty of the human form through his visual lens. His art conveys that there is beauty everywhere you just have to pay attention long enough to appreciate it. What inspires Ryan to keep creating art comes mainly from the people and artists around him and a literal obsession with creating art.

Forget the Politics, This City is Worth a Visit

Forget the Politics, This City is Worth a Visit

Although we’ve made huge progress through the development of technology and science, there is one area that sees little advancement. That is in the area of understanding and mutual respect. We continue to perpetuate fear and mistrust towards people who either look or think differently […]

Can Anything be Done about the Inequality in the World?

Can Anything be Done about the Inequality in the World?

Can anything be done about the inequality in the world or are we doomed as a species to continue to oppress the weak, the poor, the less fortunate?

If you look at the general development of the last couple centuries, you might become really frightened. The rich are getting richer and the proportion of poor people is growing from century to century. The gap between rich and poor is continually widening.

The wealthy elite of society has tried to expand their wealth and hoard it. Many of us believe that the ideal life is not only to be financially independent but to accumulate great wealth. In a free market economy, there are no real limits to increasing our wealth to an immeasurable amount. Moreover, most countries do not provide any protection for the poor and vulnerable as they are detrimental to the economic and social rise of a country.

The greed of the few is more important than the suffering of the many.

Innocence

I offer a two-part opinion on the subject. On the one hand, this is just a drop on a hot stone because the few development aid projects around the planet cannot entirely resolve issues that are perpetrated by a rising population and a growing gap between rich and poor. So, if nothing world-changing happens, our species will continue as usual, if not worse. There will be greater uprisings and unrests, as people become conscious of the injustices due to the modern advantages of the Internet.

On the other hand, every effort to do good and to combat injustice is a step in the right direction. In the age of the Internet, the lore of good can spread around the world within days or even hours. Thus, it is only necessary to have the right person, the right positive leader who can stimulate the whole world to think and act better. Personalities like Mahatma Gandhi and Nelson Mandela achieved huge success within their lifetimes. Today, such personalities could reach more people in less time. So there is a chance that our species will develop towards a different state of mind about inequality.

Mother Theresa once said, “we ourselves feel that what we are doing is just a drop in the ocean, but the ocean would be less because of that missing drop.”
