We’re all good at something. You may not believe this, and may actually believe that you’re not good at anything. But with a little bit of brainstorming and questioning, you will soon see that there are certain things you do better than others.
There are two things that you need to consider in this section. One is that just because you’re good at something, does not mean it’s a part of your life purpose. Secondly, often you may not realize you have particular skills or talents until someone else points it out to you.
I was always good at Math. Numbers and calculations came easy to me as I progressed through my education. But it’s not something I was passionate about. I was simply good at it. This is an example of a skill that did not make it into my life purpose.
When I graduated high school, I looked at my friends going to University and I felt sad that I had no vision for my future. I did not feel like I was good at anything, and had no clue what I would do with my life. I took a year and a half off and worked. After much pressure from family and friends, I applied for business administration at the local university and got in. It is here that my life changed.
I met some really amazing people that showed me kindness and affection. They would often say to me, “Jorge, you’re a great listener.” I didn’t know I had this ability but with time, I developed it and today it forms the basis of how I interact with others. It has given me so many opportunities and has allowed me to grow my friendships and professional connections.
Ask your friends and family to tell you at least three things that they think you’re good at. You might be surprised by what you discover.
Before I go, my question to you guys is “what are you good at?” Let me know in the comments section below.
