What are the turning points in your life?

My life has had many turning points; many events that took my life in a completely different direction. Moving to Costa Rica at the age of 22 was a very big turning point. My brother had moved to Costa Rica years before, and had gotten engaged to a woman from Honduras. One day, he called us to tell us he was going to get married, so my family and I flew down to Central America for the festivities. While there, I realized that I needed a change of scenery and a new beginning. Things in Canada were not going that great for me so I asked my family to help me make a decision. I took a coin and asked each one of them to flip it. If it landed heads, I would move to Costa Rica. If it landed tails, I would fly back to Canada. The coin landed heads 8 times and tails 3 times.

Although I was not entirely convinced of the decision I had made, I decided to go anyways. These 3 years in Costa Rica changed everything for me. It is there I met my wife, and it was there I discovered crucial things about myself, such as my values and philosophy of life.
