Follow the Light by chr.izz

As a child, we have many dreams. “I want to be an astronaut, a scientist, a teacher, etc.” But somewhere along the way, we lose our way. We become consumed with negativity which leads to unsatisfaction which leads to failure. And somehow, we end up […]

What You Look For You Will Find

What You Look For You Will Find

Every morning, we have a choice to make: do we focus on the negativity that is rampant, or do we focus our thoughts on the goodness around us? We will always find reasons to be negative. There has always been death, war, and poverty for as […]

Adventures in the Eternal Spring

Adventures in the Eternal Spring

What are you waiting for? The perfect job, more money, a relationship?

It appears that for many of us, happiness is a destination. “When I get that promotion, then I’ll be happy. When I make enough money to buy a big house, then I’ll be content.” But that day never comes.

Adventure is out there, and the truth is, you don’t need the perfect job or more money to experience it. All it takes is a decision and the courage to take the leap.

So jump.

Love is All by Gustavo Franco

Love is All by Gustavo Franco

What do we seek above all else? Money? Success? Notoriety? Money is necessary to live, but it is only a means to an end. Money on its own is worthless. Success is not as sweet if you have no one to share your accomplishments with. […]

Tranquility in the Mountains of Switzerland

Tranquility in the Mountains of Switzerland

Many of us are running after things that we believe will bring us happiness. We toil and labor endlessly in order to reach what we perceive to be the purpose of life. Until we burn out or realize (much too late) that it hasn’t satisfied […]

Turkey & Beyond by Mustafa Baytar

Turkey & Beyond by Mustafa Baytar

Mustafa Baytar creates photographs in a style we have never seen before here at The Heart and Mind. These images resemble paintings. This is what creativity looks like and we are honored to share it with you all.

We also want to mention the importance of maintaining an open mind. We read of terrorist attacks and violence in Turkey and then ignorantly categorize a whole nation of people as terrorists. The news of today does not simply serve to inform, but to create fear and mistrust. Let us not be manipulated by it. If you want to get a real impression of a place or its people, go there.

Mustafa Baytar is a self-described Instagram addict. Follow and support his great work!

Exploration by Tamás Csevákli

Exploration. That is what we promote. Too often, we hibernate inside our homes and miss out on so many great opportunities to explore. Seek out the hidden and mysterious corners of your city. Walk through streets you’ve never been through. Talk to people who are not […]

From Musician to Photographer and Beyond

From Musician to Photographer and Beyond

Art: whether in sound, word or visually has always attracted my attention. As a small boy, I loved to draw and paint. Growing up I always had music around me; in my parent´s car or more often on my walkman. As a teenager, I began […]

Forget the Politics, This City is Worth a Visit

Forget the Politics, This City is Worth a Visit

Although we’ve made huge progress through the development of technology and science, there is one area that sees little advancement. That is in the area of understanding and mutual respect. We continue to perpetuate fear and mistrust towards people who either look or think differently to us. We continue to divide into factions and heap blame and insults at the other side. We fail to ever acknowledge that goodness and beauty could be present in our opponents. Our greatest mistake is thinking that we are the greatest and that our way is the best way. But it doesn’t have to be this way…

Discover This Hidden Gem in Germany

My name is Marvin Schweer and I come from Steinhude, Germany. I started taking photos with a DSLR back in August of 2015. Photography had inspired me before but up until then, I had only taken photos with my mobile phone. At first, I mostly photographed our […]

Everyday Super Buildings by Daniel Rodríguez

Everyday Super Buildings by Daniel Rodríguez

In the last few years, I’ve introduced myself not as an “event” but as a “people’s” photographer: someone who goes to a place, sees what’s going on and starts looking for moments to shoot while people interact by being themselves. As a result, it’s no wonder that I decided to pursue […]

Photography is a Super Power

Photography is a Super Power

When you photograph a face, you are immortalizing that person’s image. One click and a moment is forever cemented. It is a power our ancestors would marvel at so we must not take it for granted. Pay attention to the eyes, lips, curves in the jaw; for they reflect our individual uniqueness as well as what unites us as humans. “I am like you, and yet we are different.” Each face reveals a complex story and experience. Emotions can be expressed without having to pronounce syllables.

What a photographer does is try to encapsulate the essence of what it means to be human without using words. It is a never-ending pursuit.
